Data Execution Prevention: How to configure it?


Lack of knowledge is the cause of problems and people takes advantage of it. Do you know an original Microsoft windows operating system have self in built security feature which monitors your computer for security threats? This feature get disable because you don't enable windows updates properly. This blog will help you to configure the DEP that is Data Execution Prevention.

Data Execution Prevention (DEP) provides safety feature to prevent your computer from viruses and other security threats. Below are the steps to configure the DEP properly.

Steps to configure DEP are as follows,

· Firstly you have to click the on Start bar after that make a right click on My Computer and then you have to choose “Properties” option.
· After clicking "Properties” option a new window is open now click on, “Advanced” tab.
· Now you have to provide the admin password or confirmation.
· Now make a click on settings, under performance tab.
· After that click on the data execution prevention tab.
· Now you have to choose “Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select:”
· Now you have to choose “Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select”, click Add to add the programs that you do not want to use the DEP feature.
· Click OK two times.
· Restart your computer setup for the changes to take effect.
